Crest 16

Welcome to summer 2016!  I hope that you have a wonderful summer and a good time away from classes.  I also hope that you are able to continue to build upon the things we have done this spring and in our program.  We all have high expectations for the season, and it is important that we don’t have to start over when school starts in the fall.  These workouts are designed to simply give you some ideas about things that can help you over the summer.  It is not intended to be exhaustive or all-inclusive.  You know the particular things that you need to do to improve your game.  Do them!  And, also spend time on the things that make you good!  Modify the workout ideas to meet your needs.  Make it tougher if you need to, or allow some extra recovery if you are struggling.  The bottom line is that we want to be faster, stronger players with exceptional technical ability.  The more time you can spend with the ball, the better.

The basic idea each week is 3 days of lifting, 4 days of ball work, and 4 days of running.  Elite camp will, of course, cover the lifting and it will cover most of the running.  You may still need to do some distance work.  We would love for you to be playing soccer regularly this summer, either on a team or in a pick up game.  But, you still need to do technical work.

The running days are divided up with 2 short sprint days, 1 mid range day, and 1 distance day.  If running is your weakness, spend more time on it (maybe every day) and focus on the type of running you need.

With all exercises, I always strongly recommend that you log your work and record your times.  Consider even videoing yourself doing the drills now.  Seeing improvement is a great motivator.  That improvement is much easier to see when you are recording your work.

Week 1: May 29

Week 2: June 5

Week 3: June 12

Elite camp started this week. If you weren't there, I trust that you are working somewhere else. We need each person to be excellent to achieve what we want to achieve. (As an aside, if you aren't coming to Elite, don't expect Coach Frashure to write your lifting plan. More importantly, if you are paying someone else to train you, absolutely don't ask Coach Frashure to do their job.)

Note: I had some website trouble with the previous weeks that I will fix next week.
